How to get there: From San Juan international airport there are two ways to arrive in Vieques, by plane or ferry. There are four airlines that take you to Vieques. #1 Vieques Air Link  tel. 888-901-9247. #2 Isla Nena tel. 877-812-5144. #3 Cape Air tel. 800-352-0714. The approximate price from San Juan to Vieques is $165 round trip. It is also possible to take a taxi to the Fajardo airport and fly round trip for $44 plus the taxi ride.  Flying from Fajardo can save you quite a bit. The second way is to take a taxi to the ferry. The taxis (it is best to look for a van taxi for large parties) picks you up in front of the airport and will bring you to the town of Fajardo where the ferry departs. The 1 hour taxi ride is approx. $80 for the first person and $5 for each additional person. Extra baggage is additional.  The 1 hour 20 min ferry ride is $2 for adults and $1 for children. It is safe to have at least 3 hours from the time your plane arrives in San Juan to the time your ferry leaves.

There are several car rentals and reservations should be made well in advance.

The Bioluminescent Bay is perhaps one of the most spectacular sights.  Whatever you do, don't miss the Bioluminescent bay on your tour - it's the sight eco-tourists from all over the world come to Vieques to see.  DO NOT MISS TAKING A DIP IN IT!!! Vieques offers other amenities, such as scuba diving, deep-sea fishing and horseback riding. Countless beaches, each with its own personality. Green Beach, Red Beach,Navio Beach and Sun Bay or bask in the calm, clear water at Media Luna.
Stroll for miles on soft sugar sand, unearthing the treasures of shells and beach glass. Stretch out under your private palm tree. Let the sea breeze turn the pages of your book.Stop fora coco frio.
Catch a ball game or trade a beer for a taste of barbecue on the beach.

 

 

The island of Vieques offers visitors an undiscovered natural paradise. As an US territory, travel to Vieques is easy. This Caribbean island is also one of the most affordable to visit.

Vieques is the eastern most island of the Puerto Rican Archipelago, sometimes referred to as the Spanish Virgin Islands. At just 6 miles wide and 25 miles long, Vieques is small and friendly, yet has miles of gorgeous beaches and two small seaport towns for dining and people-watching.
